Pulses

seating collection

2024

The formal thinking behind the Pulses seating collection shows an affinity with the organic, layered structures of the House of Music Hungary, designed by Sou Fujimoto, where the formative logics of architecture and nature converge. The name “Pulses” refers to musical rhythm, the beating of the heart, and the growth patterns of leguminous plants, establishing both the associative and structural point of departure for the object.

The form of the furniture is based on the duality of additive and subtractive processes observed in nature: the layered growth of flower petals and the material erosion that occurs as stone is gradually polished serve as parallel references. This duality is reflected in the object’s construction: the outer contour appears as a continuous, shell-like surface, while the inner zones form a more articulated, fragmented system, adapting to the ergonomics of seating and the position of the body. This internal differentiation subtly defines individual body positions, while the object as a whole operates as a unified, continuous form in space.

Pulses is a seating object that translates natural models of growth and erosion into a structure of use, shaping the relationship between body and space.
